Claudio Diaferia, MS, PE is the Chief Operating Officer for the Greater Miami Expressway Agency. He oversees all of the operations at GMX, including Engineering, Maintenance, Tolling operations, IT, ITS and Technology. Claudio administers the execution of GMX’s work program through the coordination of all capital and renew & replacement projects. This includes all planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance of the GMX highway system and facilities. The GMX System includes five of the busiest and most important State Roads in Miami-Dade: Dolphin Expressway (SR 836); Airport Expressway (SR 112); Don Shula Expressway (SR 874); Gratigny Parkway (SR 924) and the Snapper Creek Expressway (SR 878) and NW 138th Street from US-27 to just east of NW 97th Avenue. Claudio began his career with FDOT as a PE trainee and ultimately served as the Resident Engineer at the Florida Department of Transportation District 6 construction office, where he oversaw over $1 billion of construction projects.

- Began as a PE trainee and ultimately culminated my career at FDOT as the Resident Engineer for South Dade construction overseeing all FDOT construction projects from NW 58th Street to Key West.
Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, January 2017 – June 2023
- Deputy Director of Engineering – Oversaw MDX’s work program including all planning, design, construction and maintenance for the Authority.
Greater Miami Expressway Agency, June 2023 – Current
- Director of Tolling Operations and Transportation Technologies – Currently oversee all of the tolling operations and technology initiatives for the Agency.
