Martin Stone has over 40 years in transportation and tolling and was the Chair for the first five years of the IBTTA NIOP Committee to establish the plan for national interoperability. He holds a MA from the University of Florida College of Architecture and a Ph.D. in Public Administration – and has just completed the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. He has overseen the planning, design and construction of multiple new and renovated electronic toll facilities and operations projects in his roles of Planning Director for the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA); consultant to Florida’s Turnpike and FDOT; and as an AVP for Training & Communications with Citibank at the Citicorp Worldwide Service Center in Tampa.
Marty has been a pioneer in the development and implementation of AET technology, business rules and customer service operations. He planned the innovative THEA Reversible Elevated Lanes, the
I-4/Selmon Connector and the Gandy Elevated Connector projects. He also planned, developed and managed the installation and commissioning of the first ORT lanes in Florida and planned and managed the first full conversion of a toll system to AET in Florida with new hardware, software and business rules – also for THEA.
