Torey Alston serves as Interim Executive Director of the Greater Miami Expressway Agency (GMX), originally appointed in October 2021. Mr. Alston was tasked to lead a new organization while ensuring effective governance, financial sustainability of the agency, efficient operations and overall stability during the transition period. GMX, an independent agency of the state, serves Miami-Dade and portions of Monroe County.

Previously, Mr. Alston served as Chief of Staff for the Florida Department of Transportation, Assistant Superintendent/Economic Equity and Diversity Compliance Officer for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Equal Opportunity Director & ADA Coordinator for the City of Gainesville, Executive Director of Florida’s Office of Supplier Diversity and Interim Executive Director for the state’s Council on Efficient Government. Mr. Alston is a Florida Certified Contract Negotiator, Certified ADA Coordinator, and a Certified Compliance Administrator. Mr. Alston has been a member of several professional organizations including International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA), Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO), Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and National Institute of Government Purchasing (NIGP).

Mr. Alston is a lifelong member of the New Mount Olive Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale. Torey married his college sweetheart Candice and is a proud father to their daughter, Elliott Elizabeth and son, Torey Louis.
